Understand
Define the symptom, scope, and system before changing anything.
PROBLEM SOLVER · SYSTEM BUILDER
I build practical IT experience through real infrastructure—then troubleshoot, document, and improve what I create.
01 / ABOUT
What began as a need for dependable storage and secure access away from home became a working lab where I deploy services, trace failures, test solutions, and document what I learn.
My background in customer service, sales, content production, and storytelling shapes how I approach support. I listen first, communicate clearly, and stay with a problem until the person on the other side can move forward.
I’m building toward remote IT support and service desk work, with a longer-term path into Microsoft cloud systems, endpoint management, and automation.
Define the symptom, scope, and system before changing anything.
Test one variable at a time and follow the evidence.
Apply the safest practical fix and verify the result.
Make the solution understandable and repeatable.
02 / SKILLS
Current skills are separated from the technologies I’m actively learning—because honest proof is more valuable than a long list of claims.
Windows environments, TrueNAS SCALE, Synology DSM, storage organization, and self-hosted applications
Local networking, remote connectivity, Tailscale, VPN concepts, service access, and endpoint testing
Issue isolation, step-by-step troubleshooting, user communication, workflow documentation, and follow-through
Customer service, sales, writing, visual communication, adaptability, fast learning, and project ownership
CURRENT LEARNING PATH
03 / HOME LAB
A personal environment for learning storage, networking, remote administration, service deployment, and troubleshooting through direct use.
Dedicated server
Raw NAS capacity
Connected system areas
Hands-on ownership
04 / SELECTED WORK
Each project is presented around the objective, the implementation, and the operational skill it helped me develop.
INFRASTRUCTURE · STORAGE · SELF-HOSTING
Repurposed a Dell OptiPlex 5040 SFF into a dedicated TrueNAS SCALE server for storage, remote connectivity, and self-hosted applications. Defined clear storage paths and validated service access across the environment.
NETWORKING · REMOTE ADMINISTRATION
Configured Tailscale to reach the home lab securely from remote devices, creating a practical foundation for administering services while traveling.
BACKUP · ARCHIVE · INFORMATION DESIGN
Prepared a Synology DS1817 with seven 4 TB WD Red drives as an organized backup and archive destination for long-term media and project preservation.
MEDIA SERVICES · WORKFLOW AUTOMATION
Deployed and organized Jellyfin for movies, television, and reference content. Built repeatable ingest conventions and resolved path, import, metadata, and playback issues.
05 / TROUBLESHOOTING
Short case notes showing how I move from symptom to diagnosis, resolution, and verification.
SymptomA completed file appeared in the service queue but would not import into the intended library.
DiagnosisCompared the destination with the application’s expected storage path and traced a mapping mismatch.
ResolutionCorrected the path mapping, validated access, and confirmed the file appeared properly in Jellyfin.
SymptomVideo playback paused briefly at irregular intervals while the server remained available.
DiagnosisIsolated variables by comparing the same content across network conditions and playback clients.
ResolutionVerified smooth playback in the dedicated desktop client, isolating the practical issue to the browser path.
SymptomStandalone thumbnail images appeared as duplicate media items inside the library.
DiagnosisReviewed the ingest output and confirmed artwork was stored beside each video as a separate file.
ResolutionRevised the workflow to embed thumbnails into the media file and remove the standalone image.
06 / CONTACT
I’m looking for a 100% remote opportunity in IT support, service desk, or SaaS support where curiosity, communication, and follow-through matter.
